Did you know that your trees, shrubs, and lawn need watering during our long, dry winter months?
"Winter water to increase your chances of having your landscaping return to a beautiful green once the warmth of spring comes around."
Lawn winter kill and landscaping plants that do not come back to life in spring, are sure signs of winter dehydration. Winter water to increase your chances of having your landscaping return to a beautiful green once the warmth of spring comes around.
We recommend these 6 steps to winter watering: Step 1: Water once a month (every 4-6 weeks) during the winter months (November - February) that haven’t had adequate precipitation. Step 2: Begin watering more frequently as weather dictates in March and April as new roots are being established during this time. Step 3: Water only when the temperature is above 45 degrees. Step 4: Water during the middle of the day so the water has time to soak into the ground before it freezes. Step 5: Water your lawn, trees, shrubs, and plants. Especially those that have been newly planted and those that are located in high sunny, windy, or exposed areas. Southern exposures are particularly prone to drying out. Step 6: Use soaker hoses or hose-end sprinklers and don’t forget to disconnect them from the spigot to prevent freezing damage.
